NOTE: To be able to use this plugin you will need to be collecting VAT numbers with each sale using the Lyquidity VAT plugin for EDD or for WooComments the EU VAT Compliance (Premium) plugin from Simba host or EU VAT Assistant from Aelio.
This video series shows how to configure the plugin, create submissions and generate output in a format that can accepted in your country.
The plugin is installed the same way as any 3rd party plugin: download the plugin zip from your account after purchase; use the WordPress plugin manager to upload and install the plugin.
The general settings allow you to define the information that will control the generation of any output and that will be included in any output.
VAT number Your VAT number is required in the output formats specified by some EU member state tax authorities.
Submitter’a name and email address The name of the person who will generate the MOSS report. This is as much to help us help you if there is a problem with the generation of an output file.
Registered Member State This is an important field because it defines the country code of purchases that should not be reported. It is expected that VAT due on purchases in this member state will be reported through the VAT return.
Currency This is the currency of your store. You may choose to run your store in US dollars even though your business is registered in France. This scenario the transactions must be translated to Euros using a prescribed exchange rate because the MOSS report must report values in Euros.
Fixed establishment A business may be registered as a business and for MOSS in more than one EU member state. If so the business has additional reporting requirement that are not supported by this plug-in.
Output format Select the output format that is applicable for your member state if it is supported. Not all EU member states plan to allow businesses to upload a file of information and instead businesses registered in these member states will need to enter their returns manually. Croatia, Slovakia and Spain fall into this category.
Select the shop integration that applies to you. Only Easy Digital Downloads and Woo Commerce are supported. These options will only appear if the respective plugin is installed and has been activated.
This list documents the upload file formats currently supported by the plug-in:
- Austria (xml)
- Belgium (xml)
- Estonia (xml)
- Germany (xml)
- Lithuania (xml)
- Luxembourg (xml)
- UK (spreadsheet)
Why these countries? These have been the ones to supply the necessary technical information so far.
Not coming. These countries will not be providing a mechanism to upload a file.
We are waiting to hear from the tax authorities of any country not listed. If you know where to find the technical information for these other countries, please let us know.
